Building A Welcoming Community

Build a Welcoming Community

Improve Responsive Communication

If a community member communicates to us, there should be a timeline for how quickly they're going to get a response back. And if we can't give them a full response in that period of time, we still communicate to them where we're at in the process.

  • Members reaching out should receive a definitive response timeline.

  • If unable to respond within the timeframe, we must update them on the inquiry status.

  • As Pullman's Mayor, improving communication protocols is a top priority.

We have an incredible staff that work for the city of Pullman, and I appreciate the work that they do. Our staff really do care about the community members and are working for their good.

Increase Senior Centered and Young
Professional Amenities

Feedback from our community, especially young professionals and seniors, highlights a disparity in amenities compared to other communities. To address this:

  • Understand the desired restaurants, activities, and events for both groups.

  • Recognize the importance of these amenities for engagement and involvement.

  • Prioritize the needs and preferences of young professionals and seniors.

As mayor, it's crucial for me to bridge this gap and ensure that both these groups are considered in our city's future plans and initiatives.

Develop a Downtown Community Gathering Space

I have several initiatives in mind to repurpose state lands for the benefit of our city's green spaces:

  • Acquire state lands to convert them into green spaces for the city.

  • Repurpose the area near the boarded-up trestle by the library into an outdoor gathering space.

  • Connect Scout Park to the library, extending the green space and creating a multigenerational activity area.

  • At the city playfields, along the road by the viaduct, extending the green space to Latah Street.

  • Transform the swale between SEL and Grand Avenue, currently state property with a railroad, into a park.

These changes aim to enhance our city's green spaces and provide more recreational areas for our residents.
