Advance Community Health

Advance Community Connectedness

Pullman is a diverse community, and I'm committed to ensuring everyone feels connected and valued. To foster this sense of belonging:

Cultural Diversity:

  • Recognize the richness of having over 80 languages in our school district and over 50 at SEL.

Inclusivity for All:

  • Ensure all ages, abilities, and cultures find something relatable in Pullman.

Activities & Events:

  • Use events as platforms to bridge gaps, encourage interactions, and appreciate the uniqueness each individual brings.

Pullman thrives because of its diverse community. By getting to know and understand each other, we strengthen our collective identity and make our city even better.

Improve Behavioral Health Access

Behavioral health and its accessibility are topics I hold close to my heart, and here's why:

Personal Connection:

  • My wife is a counselor, making me deeply aware of the community's counseling and behavioral health needs.

Current Challenges:

  • Difficulty in securing counseling appointments.

  • Stigma preventing some from seeking help.

Vision for Pullman:

I desire to expand project design processes to also focus on the impact the project has on the overall health of community members.  We need to be providing healthy opportunities and thinking about project effects on overall long-term community health.

Promote Blue Zone Activities

We need to design our community focus on providing community members healthy lifestyle opportunities to increase the health and longevity of our community.

What is a Blue Zone?

Communities with the longest living and healthiest members are known as Blue Zones.  These are communities which provide healthy opportunities and are full of people who make healthy choices.
